-§- Our Cause -§-
(The Long Version)
Our purpose has been called noble by some, deceptive by others. Some think we're selling false hope, others think we could be the solution to an evergrowing problem. At least we're getting noticed, to some degree.
The Red Turnbuckle Project's immediate goal is to improve fantasy (or "e-")wrestling (at least within our own confines) by educating, assisting, and organizing the vast pool of potentially successful fantasy wrestling enthusiasts on the Internet today. Before we elaborate on our goals, it's only fitting to comment on the state of e-wrestling (as I perceive it) today. With the Net expanding more and more each day, with technological innovations constantly raising the standards, and with the maturity of veteran 'e-fedders' (what I'll call e-wrestling participants for short from this point on, to erase the distinction between handlers and staff/presidents) causing evolution out of the affairs majority of e-fedders - the world of e-fedding is more confusing than it was only two years ago. To observe this, one only has to go to the larger e-wrestling websites, and note all the rampant debate in columns and on message boards, ovr whether or not e-wrestling as a whole is deteriorating. The reason so many of them disagree over this point is one of the underestimated factors as to the increasing complexity of the e-wrestling scene. It's not the increasing population of e-fedders - it's the thick line between long-time e-fedders, and the not-so experienced. Very much like the growing global economic gap between rich and poor, the e-wrestling elite are becoming fewer and fewer (as some outgrow e-wrestling altogether), more and more secluded (or evolved) above average e-fedders, and their impact on the up-and-coming (newbie) e-fedding population is just not felt. Because of this, the overwhelming majority of new feds sputter out and die months after being created, even if a noble effort is made by the fedheds. While this is the main reason new feds don't last, it's definitly not the only reason... but to understand the other element the RTP tries to combat, one must first understand how the lack of experience and willingness to assist a fledgling fed shown so often on the net today both destroys feds altogether and brings about a secondary effect which also tears down fed - the thinning talent pool.
As the decent younger feds die out, members get frustrated. They strike out on their own, as is common in their mentality, since the average e-fedder is clearly of adolescencent age. The driving desire to create a better fed is obvious and undeniable, as more and more fed advertisments appear on message boards daily. Since more and more young feds strike out on their own, it spreads out (and dilutes) the available pool handlers more and more. And still, the young e-fedder underestimates his workload, and more people quit, and more people attempt to make a newer better fed, with a smaller portion of the roster... and so on, and so on. As you can see, not only is the know-how to cause your average fed to even sustain its existence (to say nothing of flourishing, or outdoing the older feds) dismally lacking, but so to is the necessary man-power, and willingness to volunteer. In layman's terms, not only are all the experienced, serious, hardcore e-fedders playing in their bigass, poser-filled, million-hit-a-day superfed... but all the not so great e-fedders are getting spread farther and farther apart from each other, as there are almost more new e-fed presidents than there are available handlers. Now, it shouldn't be presumptuous to assume that one organization can help to reverse these affects at some level. Though we may not be the most experienced group of e-fedders on the net, we're not the least experienced either. As you can see, we can get a decent functional site up. We can express ourselves with the written word. There is no reason why, if enough of us get together, and get organized, we can't start a great fed. The specifics of our goals are as followed; There are too many feds out there. So many are understaffed, and disorganized. We're here to help e-fedders everywhere, with even the least amount of talent. We'll take the most inexperienced, un-original little wannabe e-fedder out there, and at least show him how to improve - ideally, to find him a place in e-wrestling where he can be useful. The downside is this; while we're here to help all e-wrestling participants - we help PEOPLE, not feds. All people with a way to type, and an Internet provider can be a productive, entertained member of the fantasy wrestling community. But not everyone can run a fed. There are too many feds out there as is. We're not trying to take away anyone else's fed, they've got a right to try and make it their way. But odds are against the majority of people who do so, for the reasons already mentioned The RTP must convince some presidents of this for optimum success. Because we're built on the principle that to undo the thinning out of the talent pool, you must break down the barriers that keep the talent apart, you must gain a concentration of e-fedders in one (or at least few) places. There must be less presidents, and more staff members (or at least handlers willing to do a little card writing - or whatever helps the fed prosper as a whole) Once this difficult obstacle is achieved, The RTP is incredibly more capable, more potent, more able to acheive excellence in e-fedding. Larger staffs mean a more efficient fed, more frequent updates and cards. Larger roster pools mean more angles. More people means more work gets done. One person can write an average card in 3-6 hours ... but three people, organized, reliable, and well-advised, can do the same card in 1-2 hours. Not only that, but since this project affects the bulk of e-wrestling, there's no need for it to affect only one fed. In theory, we'd love for our principles to be taken by multiple feds. Under the banner of The Red Turnbuckle, we envision an interfed, dedicated to binding the e-wrestling community even closer, handler by handler, staffer by staffer. Friendly competition between feds obviously increases the caliber of the product. And having people in a neighboring fed, willing to support one another, in exchange for assistance later down the road, can be wonderfully useful during times when a fed might otherwise seem to be crumbling. We're not trying to 'beat out' fwlnet, or dream wrestling, or any big, huge e-wrestling center. Our sights are not aimed that high - because thinking too big too early is the same thing that causes all of those fly-by-night feds out there. We're gonna start with a few feds, make sure they're OVER-staffed, if anything, and the expand from there. That is pretty much the whole of our purpose. -Yooka Founder of The Red Turnbuckle Project.
